Luloveshandmade on TV on KIKA for a DIY Special

March 23, 2014

Hi everyone! :) Those of you who follow me on Instagram have already seen this last weekend, for all the others of you, here’s a blogpost: last Sunday, a TV team and two TV presenters came to my home for a DIY feature on a kid’s TV channel in Germany. You can see me on KIKA in the show ‘KIKA LIVE’ on Monday, March 24 on 8 p.m. for ten minutes (it’s tomorrow!) and this show will be about last minute DIY gift ideas for teenagers.

Preparations for the video shooting

Because the TV team came to my home, we had to relocate part of the furniture, for example move the bed to the living room, because our bedroom is also my workspace and I didn’t want my bed to be in the way. :)

Apart from removing furniture, I also prepared some snacks and candy for the team so that they wouldn’t starve, because we have been filming for 8 hours.

My video shooting Sunday with KIKA

First of all, we filmed some stop tricks. This is a special film effect of which I hadn’t heard before: an object is filmed and while the camera is turned off, the object is moved out of sight before then the camera is turned back on. When watching the film afterwards, it looks like the
object disappears. We did this with the supplies which were needed for the DIYs. Then the two presenters were filmed while introducing the future viewers to the theme of the episode of their kids and teenager show.

The week before we filmed for the show, I had been preparing eight different DIYs for last minute gifts which teenagers could easily make without spending too much money or effort on them.

For this DIY theme week in the show KIKA LIVE, the team invited DIY experts like bloggers and youtubers and I was one of them. My role was helping the two presenters with making those last-minute gift ideas in front of the camera and explaining them (and the kids in front of the TV) how to create those simple gifts. :)

It was a really really long day, but sooo worth it! It was a completely new experience working for a TV production, I learned a lot and the day was lots of fun. The two presenters (Ben and Jess) were super nice and I had fun working with them on the projects.

Watch Luloveshandmade on TV in the show KIKA LIVE

In addition to the TV show itself, there’s some material with short photo instructions for the kid’s on the KIKA LIVE website.

So here’s the most exciting part: if you want to see me on TV, switch it on tomorrow evening (on Monday, March 24) at 8 p.m. and watch me in the show KIKA LIVE on KIKA (Kinderkanal), a German TV channel for kids. :)

Can’t wait, I’m so excited!! :)

Happy Sunday afternoon & evening!
Lu

P.S.: If you miss the show, you can watch three of the DIYs online on the KIKA website, the videos are available for nearly one year:

DIY video for a simple notebook
DIY video for photo booth props

A Springtime Girl’s Daytrip to the Baltic Sea

March 22, 2014

Hi everyone! Two weeks ago, my friends Jilli, Rieke and I spontaneously drove to the Baltic Sea just for one day, the best idea ever!! It was a super sunny and warm spring day, the sky was blue as can be and we enjoyed it sooo much!

A happy girl’s trip to the seaside

We got up early in the morning and met at Jill’s place. She has a VW bus (awesome!!) and was the driver on that day. Mogli was allowed to come with us and he took place next to me on the back seat, looking like a furry kid going on holiday. ;)
The weather was simply awesome, there were only a few people on the beach on Usedom on that day and we spent the day with wandering around the beach, LOTS of food breaks, playing with Mogli and simply being busy with enjoying life.

Each of us brought something for the picnic, so we were having vegetables, sandwiches, a potato salad, a cake and a fruit salad, hmm! Fresh air at the sea makes hungry! :)

It was so warm that we could even lie in the sand for some time, pure happiness!

Greedy little Mogli, although he had his own snacks for that day. ;D

Unbelievable: perfect weather, white sand, blue sky, nearly turquoise water and for some there was no one else on the beach except us. With some imagination, it felt like being on an island far away.

This girl’s day was just perfect and made the three of us super happy! I’d love to turn back time and have this day once again. :)
Happy weekend!

Handmade Planner with Calendar Printable by aentschie’s Blog

March 14, 2014

Hi everyone! Today I want to show you my new monthly planner and I’ve got a link for a great printable for you!

First of all, do you remember my recent planning & organization blogpost? At the beginning of the year, I made my own monthly calendar by hand and this system works pretty well for me.

Make your own monthly planner with the printable

After I had started using my own handmade calendar, my best friend Anja, who blogs on aentschie’s Blog and who is also a media designer, made a free printable for a really cute monthly planner which is way prettier than mine AND each page has a front and back and is made in a way that you can print it out and bind it as a real calendar. :) Here you can find her free monthly planner for 2014 (if you are as late as I am and still need some pretty pages to fill out with plans and dates every month).

Here’s how I made my planner

First of all, I simply printed out her free planner file and put all pages onto each other in the right order. Then I took a piece of colorful paper for the outside (seen on the photo below) and cut it to the size of the pages and put it underneath so that it would later become the outter cover and back. Then I used my sewing machine (but you could also sew by hand) for making one seam in the middle to connect all pages.

Being folded in the middle, this was how it looked then.

Afterwards I took a roll of pretty tape to glue a stripe over the seam on the outter side.

Next, I took one of my fave Instagram photo prints and used a glue roller to attach this to the front of the calendar in order to give it a pretty cover. :)

That’s it, so pretty!

Now I do not only have those plain loose pages with monthy calendars, but I even have a tiny book with all the pages and those even have a front and back. :) Perfect!

Thanks for this free printable, my dear Anja, I will now enjoy my new handmade planner.
Have fun making your own one and happy weekend! :)

Hi everyone! :) Here’s a new DIY video I made with DaWanda last fall: it’s a video about how to easily make a whitebox for product photography.

You won’t need many supplies and it won’t take you long to make such a
box for better lightning when shooting product photos. :)
So here’s the video:

Luloveshandmade’s Outfits – Illustrations by Little Ell

March 8, 2014

Hi everyone, happy weekend! :)
I recently received a message via facebook, the person writing me was Sonja who runs the label Little Ell and makes beautiful illustrations. She told me that she had taken some of my outfit photos as inspiration for her super cute drawings and I was over the moon when she showed me her drafts. :)
Yesterday she wrote me again and showed me the finished illustrations together with the products she designed with them.
I’m super overwhelmed and extremely flattered by the fact that my style inspired someone else to make drawings out of it. :) Those illustrations are available in her shop as art prints, pillows, shower curtains and tote bags. So cool!
Here are the original outfits that Sonja used as inspiration:

Pink and green winter outfit.

Mustard and red fall outfit.

Red and mint spring outfit.

Green and pink summer outfit.

What do you think, aren’t her illustrations incredibly cute and happy? :)

May you have a great weekend!
