TrendMafia Designer Market.

September 5, 2010

Hi friends!
Yesterday I had my own booth at the TrendMafia designer market in Berlin-Wedding. Flo came there with me and helped me all day, and in the beginning I was very nervous. Unfortunately, there weren’t many visitors (the vendor who had a booth next to me and has been selling her stuff at this market for many month told me that she usually sells about 60 to 70 items, but yesterday she has only sold about 15) and of the people who visited the market, there weren’t many who belonged to my target group. As a result of an endless day, I only sold 4 items (a dribble bib, two hairbows and a brooch) plus 2 items to my relatives. :)
In the afternoon, I saw an old woman pointing to my necklaces and heard her saying, “You can get such ones at Woolworth for only 1€!” I couldn’t believe what I’ve heard and I just said to her, “Thank you so much, I made these”, with a friendly smile and then she was embarassed. ;P
From a financial point of view, it was of course not worth the effort (I sold items for 27€ and the rent for the booth was about 40€), but it was a great experience having my own booth, I got some compliments for my items, got a lot of useful advice from other vondors and some people picked up my business cards. :) I already had 64 visitors in my shop today, more than three times more as usual and it’s scarcely afternoon. :) All in all, I don’t regret having gone there, although I didn’t sell much, but I must admit that I had hoped for more. :) The best thing was that some family members and lovely friends came to visit me, kept company with us and encouraged me. :)
Here are some photos we took yesterday, I hope you like my colorful booth. :)

That’s the list of vendors, I had booth number 8.
Flo stayed there with me all day and helped me as much as he could. :)

I wore my brand new dress, unfortunately I forgot to take a full-body photo. :(

That’s my booth, I’m so proud of it. :)

I made some new ‘thank you’ stamps for the tiny sachets I used in case of a sale.
Thank you for reading, wish you a nice Sunday! :)
Love, Lu

TrendMafia peek.

September 3, 2010

Hey! :) As most of you already know, I’ll be having my own booth at the TrendMafia designer market tomorrow (If you’re from Berlin, feel free to visit me, I’ll be there all day during the opening hours :)) and I’ve been so busy with preparing everything during the last days. :) On the picture you can see a few of the items I’m going to take with me, more pictures will follow on Sunday. :) Keep your fingers crossed for me that there will be at least one person purchasing one of my items! I’m so excited and I’m getting more and more nervous every hour, it’s driving me crazy. :) When I joined Indie Biz last spring to get to know something about how to start a small creative buisness, I never thought I would take part in a designer market as a vendor so soon, not to mention the past sales at  Luxury International in Berlin this summer.
By the way, because of the market tomorrow, I’ve paused my items on DaWanda, they will be available again on Sunday.
Wish you a wonderful weekend, I will go on finishing my preparations, and before I go to bed, I’ll watch some episodes of Gilmore Girls. <3
Love, Lu

Sold!!!!

September 1, 2010

Ladies and gents, yesterday evening I got an e-mail by DaWanda (the German equivalent to etsy), telling my that my very first item was sold in my shop!!! I’m so excited, can hardly believe it. :)
The item I’ve sold is one of my new gameboy brooches I just made the day before, so funny. :)

It’s great, the sale gives me even more confidence for Saturday, THE day, the day on which I’ll be having my own booth on the TrendMafia designer market. :)
Today’s a great day. :)
Love, Lu <3333

I love Tetris.

August 30, 2010

Who of you owns an old gameboy? :) I have one, the old version without any color, a friend of mine has once given it to me. I can’t tell you how much I love Tetris and I like the old-fashioned version on my gameboy much better than the new and colored one on my mobile phone. Highly inspired, I made some colorful gameboy brooches, how do you like them? :)
Here can you find all of them. :)

And to be honest, what is better than receiving a self-recorded cassette tape as a present by seomebody special? :) Of course I have to admit that I love modern technology, it is great to have a mobile phone with which I can use the Internet, make telephone calls, use it as a camera and as a small TV for videos, but sometimes I miss those ‘old stuff’, for example my old walkman I highly admired when I was a teenanger. :) How about you? :)

DIY: Rubber stamps.

August 29, 2010

I made some new rubber stamps again, mostly for the TrendMafia designer market because I wanted some sort of ‘thank you’ rubber stamp for tiny paper bags in case somebody buys something. :) Moreover, I love cameras and the current moustache trend (maybe you want to take a look at this blog, there my friend Anja has also made a cute moustache rubber stamp and another gorgeous moustache accessory) and I’ve already made some lovely moustaches out of felt which can be used as a brooch. :) Nevertheless, these ones are my newest rubber stamps. :)

‘Danke’ is the German translation for ‘thank you’. :)
