We don’t want nuclear energy.

September 23, 2010

Because our government decided to extend the period of time of nuclear power stations in Germany, last Saturday there was a huge demonstration in Berlin where we demonstrated among other 100.000 people against this decision (more information on the demonstration here). Nuclear energy threatens our lives and the lives of our descendents, therefore we cannot tolerate this policy in any case. Hopefully, this unexpectedly huge demonstration has shown the political leaders of our country that there are at least some people who don’t want to bow to such a policy of enormous safety hazards.
Here are some photos of the incredible demonstration where there were so many people standing up for their right to protect themselves and their environment.
Thanks for reading! :)
Love, Lu

Back to school.

September 13, 2010

I made a school cone for my friend Anja, because she just started a new on-the-job training and therefore she has to attend a vocational school. To surprise her, I made her this school cone. isn’t she gorgeous holding it in her hands? :)

First, I made a draft for those butterflies to cut them out in her favourite color.

I decorated the paperboard with little self-made butterflies and bought some paper doilies.

Moreover, I made her this cute ribbon for her first day back at school. :)

How do you like it? :)

Weekend fun.

September 12, 2010

 Autumn is coming. :)
My dear friend Hanna has been visiting me this weekend. Since we finished school some years ago, we have been living in different cities and don’t see each other very often, that is why it’s even much more awesome when we are able to spend time with each other. :) Here are some photos of our weekend. :)

DIY: How to embellish a cotton apron.

September 6, 2010

As a birthday present for a friend of mine, I bought a plain, white, cotton apron in the handicraft store. Moreover, you’ll need some wool or knitting yarn (mine is 100% cotton), textile colors, some paint brushes and a draft of your motive.
First, put your motive onto the apron and draw its outlines onto the fabric as often as you want to.
Next, color your motive with the textile colors you’ve chosen and after everything is dry, stitch around the outlines to highlight the motive.
As a next step, I’ve stiched a slogan onto the tiny breast pocket of the apron.
And here’s the final result. :) It takes some time to draw, color and stich everything, but I think it’s worth it. :) (Don’t forget to iron the apron to fix the textile color permanenty before washing it! :))
My friend Anna. :)
