DIY: Wire Statement Necklace

September 2, 2013

Hello, time for a new DIY, this time one to make jewellery! :)
Maybe you have already noticed one of my current blog sponsors, idee. Creativmarkt. I have been one of their customers for many years now, my number one place for buying craft supplies and DIY tools. Even happier I was when they contacted me in early summer, asking for ad space on my blog and a DIY cooperation. So in exchange for being able to choose lots of awesome items from their shop, I will show you some pretty projects telling you what you can make with their products. This is the first part of a little series of tutorials with five different DIY necklaces.

To make such a cool wire necklace, you will need:
– A necklace chain
– Jewellery pliers
– Wire
– Tiny jewellery rings
– A necklace clasp

First of all, make a sketch of the motif you want to turn into a wire necklace. Next, take your pliers to bend the wire in order to imitate your drawing. At first, I only wanted to make one, but then I decided to make a second necklace and also formed an abstract kitty head with the wire. Afterwards, take the tiny jewellery rings and attach them to the wire pendants. Then attach the necklace clasps to the chains and fasten the chains to the pendants. Therefore, you will ned your pliers.

Super easy, wasn’t it? Those wires are not only available in silver, but also in all kinds of colors to make your necklaces an even more visible eye-catcher.

So how do you like my new kitty and sewing machine necklaces? :) And where do you normally buy your craft supplies? Like I said, although I buy at several different places, idee has always been my number one craft supply and tool dealer! :)
Wish you lots of fun making your own wire necklace!
Lu
P.S.: As always, although the supplies for this blog post have been sponsored, this doesn’t touch my opinion on the sponsor or my decisions concerning this blog post’s content! :)

Blog Design Help: How to Make a Photo Archive

September 1, 2013

Hello, hello! :) I recently posted about my blog’s new feature, the photo archive to give you a quick overview over DIYs, outfits and recipes. After having posted this, I received some messages and comments in which I have been asked to explain how this works. The advanced bloggers among you will now be bored, but only some months ago, I have also been asking myself how to do this, but it isn’t difficult at all. So for those of you who are curious, here’s how you can do it:

My blog has several different pages and the outfit category is one of them. To create a kind of an archive with photos which directly link to the respective blog posts, simply do the following:

Go to your blogger dashboard and create a new site. After doing this, edit this site via the option in your dashboard (as seen on the photo above), or go to the site and scroll down and click on the editing pen (like on the screenshot below).

You will now be directed to the editing window of your blog’s page.

This is how it should look. Switch to the html editor, a bigger screenshot following below.

You now are in the window for editing the html code of the blog page in which you want the photo archive to be. The part of the code which I highlighted in blue is the code for ONE of the outfit photos which were displayed on the blog site showing all of my outfit posts. Depending on how many photos you want to link, you need the matching amount of html codes, each with the following components:

Here I wanted to tell you how to understand this html code: this is a code for inserting a linked photo. Thus, you can choose a photo which shows what the blog posts is about and you can directly link it to the blog post. The code consists of a part which includes the link of the original blog post you want to link to (in green) and the direct link to the photo you want to link to (in light blue). I always upload my photos for those case to photobucket were I have an own account.

Dependant on your middle bar’s size and on how many photos you want to display in one row, you need to find the perfect size for your blog. My blog’s middle bar is 700 pxl wide and I wanted to display three pictures in one row to have the size I like best. Thus, I devided the 700 pxl through 3, which meant that each photo was supposed to be 233 pxl wide. I then decided on a width and height of 230 pxl and leave a little space. Ater once having determined your photos perfect size, you can always upload them the right way (in my case on photobucket) before inserting them in the html code.
Each time I publish a new blogpost in one of my categories who have those archives, I immediately add the new photo to the archive gallery.
Any more questions? Please let me know in the comments! :)

Hello! :) Two weeks ago, during a day in Berlin, my dar friend Malin took those photos of me before sunset. We were lucky to catch the magic hour when evening light is soft and just perfect and we spent some time at the old industrial area in Berlin-Friedrichshain that I love so much.

Bits and Pieces of our Home.

August 29, 2013

Hello! :) Today I’ve got some tiny bits and pieces of my home for you. :) Since I often change details and add some new pops of color, our home – especially my room – is changing constantly and there’s always something pretty to look at, but see yourself! :)

A part of my jewellery collection including earrings, bracelets, rings and brooches.

One of the cutest handmade gifts I ever got: Anja made me a clothes pin with a kissing Flo and Lu, awww! :*

Home sweet home. My craft corner seen from the mirror and a sweating Mogli, poor guy!

Eeeeks, how cute is this? Dalmatian washi tape! Of course I had to buy it!! :) And as you might probably know, I love colors and here’s my tiny collection of colorful (vintage) summer scarves.

On my sewing table: ribbons and zippers.

My pretty new book case laying on my bed, c/o Frau Fadenschein, one of my current blog sponsors. She invited me to choose a book cover with my favorite kind of fabric and then she sent me this pretty customized one. :) Perfect to hide an ugly book cover (I’m currently reading an educational book with an orange cover and strange typography), makes it look so pretty! If you want a ‘book friend’ yourself, just check out her DaWanda Shop, I bet she’d be happy to sew your dream case. :)

A wall in Flo’s room / the living room with the cutest video game poster ever.

On our kitchen cabinet, my vintage tea pots and etageres.

I love our colorful kitchen! The bunting and the pompoms are handmade and my favorite thing is the kitchen table I once painted turquoise.

Is your home so colorful, too? :) What are your favorite details at home?
Happy day!

A Day in Berlin and Friends’ Quality Time.

August 28, 2013

Berlin, my love, plus awesome quality time with a friend, that’s a perfect combination! Two weekends ago, my dear friend Malin came to visit me for a long weekend. We have been knowing each other for seven years now (we had once become friends via the Internet when we got to know each other in the music forum of our favorite band – yeah to Internet friendships which become real!! :)), but we have never been living in the same city. So when we see each other, it’s always only for a few days and then we always spent lots of time with sightseeing, walking around, taking photos, chatting and eating. :) This time, I showed her around some new places in Potsdam and one day was spent in Berlin.

Oh, I love this silhouette of Berlin!

Isn’t Malin’s tattoo the cutest?

Super Mario, my hero!! ;)

On the last day, while walking around a part of Potsdam I hadn’t completely explored yet, we came across a huge trampoline and were having a blast! :)

Eeeeks! :)

Are you also having some close friends you once met on the Internet? :)
Happy day!
