August 6, 2012

Hello everyone! Oh my, last week has been incredibly amazing and extraordinary fantastic and I’m sooooo extremely sad that it’s over and passed away so fast, I enjoyed every tiny second and magical moment! :) Last week was my summer blogger week, Stefanie of Squeaky Swing and Stef of Magnoliaelectric came to visit me and we spent nearly one week together. We had already started planning this many weeks before and it was just the best decision that we could have made! :)
What is more, Laura of Tagträumerin also came over the weekend and like it was the case with the other girls, I liked her a lot and it was as great as I had expected. We had a week full of food dates, outfit shoots, inspiring conversations, sightseeing, vintage shopping, time outside in the sun and a trip to the seaside with my friend Anja of aentschie who also spent time with us and I got to know Fabienne of The 59th Streetbridge who came to see Stef. :)
It was really hard to say goodbye, but I’ll spend the next days with sorting photos and remembering this awesome week. :) So until I’m ready to share all the other photos, here’s my last week in Instagram photos! :)

Maritime Party Decor & Food Table

August 3, 2012

Beware, don’t read this post when you are hungry! :)

Hi everyone! :) Two weeks ago, we celebrated Flo’s birthday. We celebrated with only a few close friends who came over the weekend, it was awesome and as always, time went by way too fast.
Because I love to decorate and because I loooove theme parties, I offered Flo to prepare everything for a maritime birthday party. :) As you were able to see a few blog posts before, I made the decor myself and I had started planning and preparing a few weeks before. :)
So here’s the food table with the decor in our little kitchen, I totally love the final result and all guests paid me the nicest compliments. :)

We had all different kinds of snack and Flo and I have already started to prepare them the day before.

I looooved this blue cocktail, I’m gonna share a recipe later on. :) We also made blueberry-lemon muffins, but in order to save time, we used a baking mixture for normal muffins and only added the blueberries and fresh lemon juice. :)
The beautiful, striped paper straws and the cupcake paper are from Die Schönhaberei. :)

Hmmmmm, tiny mini pizza baguettes. :)

We also made a mediterranean noodle salad after a recipe by Coco, I only made a few little changes. :)

Doesn’t the food table look nice? :)

In addition to beer, liquor and softdrinks, I prepared three kinds of special drinks. First of all, I made my beloved raspberry-lime lemonade, it’s so refreshing. Second, I made a blue cocktail, gonna share the recipe later on… :) And third, I made Sangria after a recipe I found on Elsie’s blog. The recipe is awesome, but we didn’t add enough sugar and the red wine we bought unfortunalety didn’t taste as good as we had expected, so the Sangria didn’t go down very well. :(

Mmmmmhhh, cauliflowers rissoles!!! Those were a mix of two different recipes: I’ve got an awesome, own recipe for veggie rissoles with zucchini, leek and carrots and Jenny always makes amazing rissoles with broccoli and cauliflowers, so I somehow combined both recipes and what came out was totally delicious!! :) Moreover, we made a normal tomato salad with feta and fresh herbs. :)

Our wall decor with the pretty paper ship garland that Anja made. <3

Yummy, homemade fruit mascarpone after a recipe I invented myself, gonna share it with you soon. :)

The night before, Flo, one of our weekend guests, and I made lots of anchor cookies and we made a chocolate cake. :)

Wobbly jelly with a tiny dash of vodka & delicious fruit sticks. :)

Oh my, I just love the overall look of this food table & kitchen decor, I’m really proud of myself. :) What do you think? What is your favourite detail? :)
Happy weekend,
Lu :)

Handmade Maritime Theme Party Decor

July 31, 2012

Heeelloooo and welcome to my blog, my new readers!!! :)

Yay, here are finally the photos I took of the handmade decor I made for Flo’s maritme birthday party. I did not only work on a nautical outfit, but I also wanted our home – especially the kitchen with the party buffet – to look maritime. :) So here’s what I made:

I already started planning the details a few weeks beforehand and collected some materials, but since I have a lot of supplies at home, I didn’t have to buy a lot. :)

I made this brooch using fabric leftovers and paperboard.

Some tiny food toppers made of striped paper.

Eeeeks, I’m soooo proud of those handmade sailor hats, I made four of them. :) Can’t believe how good they have turned out. :D I found the idea online, but I didn’t use any tutorial. Instead, I tried out myself how to make them. :)

Lots of handmade cake toppers: you just need to clue the piece of paperboard onto a wooden stick, I used a hot-glue gun for it. For the blue toppers, I made an anchor stamp myself. :)

I used my circle cutter to make tiny garlands…

And I made pretty pinwheels out of striped paperboard and buttons, using the same technique as in my felt pinwheel tutorial. :)

Two handmade hair bows for the ladies… :)

And of course, not to miss my handmade maritime fabric bunting I sewed a few days before the party. :) No party food table is complete without a bunting! :)

I also made those paper wall decor elements (don’t know how they are called) and Anja was so sweet to design maritime, striped paper for us and made this super amazing paper ship garland after an idea we found on Pinterest. <3

Of course I also made pom poms do decorate the walls. :)

Aaaand, finally, the wall decor above the food table of which I’m gonna share photos in a few days… :)
Thanks for reading &have a fantastic week! :)

While you are reading this post, I’ll probably be totally freaking out and tidying up my home, because this evening, my lovely blogger pals Stef & Stefanie are arriving to spend the week with me! <3
