My life in Instagram photos: it’s beginning to feel like summer!

May 25, 2013

Days are still getting warmer and nights are getting shorter, I love this season so much! :) Here’s what I’ve been doing lately:

Flo made a delicious snack out of leftovers. // Sorting recipes and cooking books. // Potatoes and green stuff at the farmer’s market. // Sweet Mogli. // We made a cake with fresh rhubarb our neighbours got us from their garden. // Homemade lemonade, so refreshing!

My colorful outfit.

As you can see, baby Mogli is always sleepy! :) // Our balcony is getting greener each day. // Flo made me a super delicious sandwich. :) // Evening run.

Mogli was having the time of his life running around like crazy! :D

My view at work. // Happy dog. // Pretty house in Berlin. // Freshly bought at the market. // Happy feet. // Colorful necklace from nahili.

Repotting. // So green!

Sewing little fabric creatures for a workshop at DaWanda that I’m preparing. // Fresh organic Friday. // Happy flamingo dress. // Mogli loves being in the sun! // Pink and green. // Evening walk.

I repotted some sunflowers for making them a gift. :) // On our kitchen table.

My workspace and sleepy Mogli. // We’ve been to the movies to watch The Great Gatsby, such a good movie! And I loved the book! // Daily outfit.

Potatoes with lemon-sauce and stuffed mushrooms, super delicous! // Doggie friendship.

We were having lovely guests for brunch. :)

The magic hour, such beautiful summer light in the evening after a perfect day with friends!

Hope you’re having a lovely springtime, too!! :)

DIY with KAMSnaps: Cat Needle Case

May 23, 2013

Hello, hello! :) Remember my two last DIYs using KAMSnaps? :) I recently shared a tutorial for how to sew a fabric bow bracelet and a tutoril for a faux leather business card holder. So today here’s the third part of the series called “5 things to do with KAMSnaps” featuring the awesome products of my sponsor Snaply who sent me a package with lots of awesome things from their shop that I’ve chosen in order to show you what to make with their products.
This tutorial today is the third out of five blog posts telling you what to use KAMSnaps for. These are colorful plastic snaps which you can use for many different projects and they are so useful. So here’s my third idea, a DIY for how to make a cat needle case made of felt for which you can use the free pattern that I created. :)
Let’s go:

What you need:
– KAMSnaps, a KAMSnap plier and a bradawl
– Felt in two different colors
– Paper and printer for the pattern
– Scissors to cut out the pattern
– Fabric cutter
– Needle and embroidery yarn
– All-purpose or fabric glue

First of all, print out the pattern in any size you like. You can download the cat pattern here. Then use the pattern for cutting out felt. Take a pen for drawing the cat’s face onto the felt and use needle and embroidery yarn to stitch the face onto the felt cat.

After stitching the face onto the felt, cut out tiny scraps and glue them onto the ears. Afterwards, take your fabric cutter to cut out a smaller piece of felt on which you will later put the needles. Put it into the middle of the cat and use the embroidery yarn to attach both layers onto each other.

When sewing both layers onto each other, make a bow in the middle. Then fold the cat in the middle and put both layers onto each other. Next, take the bradawl to make holes into the ears so that you can then put them KAMSnaps through the holes. They will then be used to close that needle case. You can then put all your needles through the felt and organize them this way. :)

That’s it, you’re done! :)
If you make this case yourself, please share a link, I’d love to see your result!! :)
Happy crafting!

Colorful things around my home.

May 21, 2013

Hello and happy Tuesday! :) Today I want to share a few colorful impressions from out home.
As most of you know from other photos, I looove our turquoise kitchen table I once painted myself and I always love having fresh flowers at home. :)

Handmae kitty necklaces.

My beloved craft & sewing corner, my very favorite place at home.

Each Friday, we buy fresh stuff for the weekend from the local organic store.

Fresh bedding: the tiny floral pillows, the one with strawberries and the bunting are handmade by me. :) My dearest Anja made me the crochet pillow. :)

What’s on my desk: lot’s of stationery, washi tape and pens. // My necklace collection.

Colorful paper. // In our kitchen: towels, aprons and pot holders. The red and white apple collection with apron, pot holders and tea towels is handmade. :)

Our little basil garden on our kitchen’s window sill with all the different kinds of basil that my mother has ordered. :* // Isn’t this metal etagere pretty? I found it on DaWanda about two years ago, it’s vintage and it’s perfect for storing fruits.

Colors make my happy! // New dresses I bought at the beginning of the year!! :)

Is your home colorful, too? :) What’s your favorite spot at home? :)

DIY: Chair Makeover.

May 19, 2013

Hello, hello! Here’s a DIY project I want to share with you: on the left side of the photo, you can see my desk chair chair which I have been owning since my childhood days. Its quality is awesome, it is made of really good wood and my mother once bought it at an organic furnite store, but I didn’t like its look anymore, so I changed the color and I sewed new covers for the pillows. :)

For painting a wooden chair, you need:
– Paint brushes and a paint roller
– Wood paint
– Sandpaper
– Tarpaulin or oilcloth to protect the floor from the paint

First of all, use the sandpaper to sand down the wooden surface evenly. Next, use your wood paint to apply the color all over the chair (everywhere where there’s wood). Use the paint roller for larger surfaces and uses the brushes for little details and corners.

As you can see, you will need several layers and have to let the color dry in between until there’s an even layer of paint and you don’t see the wood anymore.

After having painted the chair, I sewed new covors for the pillows, one for the seating surface, one for the backrest. Therefore, I took the old covers and used them to make a pattern. I used this pattern for sewing new covers of exactly the same size. :)

Here are some details of the floral cover: in the back, one can open it with a velcro fastener and on the seating surface, it can be opened with a simple zipper and it is bound to the chair with a cord.
Moreover, I also added a little fabric cover to the chair’s leg to cover it. :)
Soooo much better than before!
Happy Sunday! :) Lu
