What I Wore: Pink & Blue at the Funfair

August 27, 2014

Dress: asos
Clutch: h&m
Shoes: vans
Earrings: handmade
Turquoise rings: vintage, gifts from my Mama
Sparkling ring: gift from Flo

Hello and happy day everyone! Do you remember me telling you about my happy week in Vienna? During those days, Stef and I went to the Prater, Vienna’s traditional funfair with an awesome vintage charme, and took outfit photos there. I already published my first funfair outfit shoot with the photos that Stef took of me and today I’m sharing the other one.

While we have been spending one whole afternoon at the Prater, alternately taking photos of each other, I also took tons of photos of the colorful signs and buildings with Stef’s great camera, so this blogpost is a mixture of outfit photos and happy mood photos from the Prater. Enjoy! :)

It was tons of fun posing between all those colorful sings and scary clowns. ;)

Matching my clutch, I wore those pretty turquoise rings that my mother once gave me, perfectly matching my sparkling ring from Flo. :)

Those leather tassel earrings are handmade.

In a perfect dream world, I would go to a funfair every single day. :)

My great new vans (this time in blue) have again been a great companion. They are so pretty!

Happiest girl! I’ve always wanted to take photos at a funfair and when Stef told me about the Prater, I definitely wanted to go there and suggested taking outfit photos at that magical place. We had a super afternoon!

Such a magical place, I hope I can come back one day!

Recipe: Mango Colada Drink

August 25, 2014

Hello and happy Monday! Before summer is going to be over pretty soon, here’s for you a recipe for a delicious and fruity cocktail, a mango colada with a little bit of orange and pineapple. I planned it for my tropical food table in June and my best friend Anja helped me with making and decorating it, because I was running out of time before it was getting too dark to take photos. :) Let’s go!

Ingredients for a Mango Colada:

What you need:
– White rum
– Coconut cream
– Mango juice or fresh mangoes to get the juice from
– Some orange and pineapple slices and some juice of both fruits
– Crushed ice

Make a Mango Colada Cocktail:

For making the cocktail and depending on the size of your container (bowl or cocktail glass), use a total of about 20% white rum, 40% mango juice, 20% coconut cream, 10%  orange and pineapple juice and 10% crushed ice.
As a first step, mix the different kinds of juice and fill it into the glass or bowl. Then mix alcohol and coconut cream and slowly pour it on top (then it’s like on the photo that you have a yellow lower part and a white top part of your cocktail). Afterwards, carefully add the ice and then dcorate your glass or bowl with orange and pineapple slices.
Enjoy before the summer is over and check out my other recipes! :)
What’s your favorite cocktail?

DIY & Free Printable: Notebook and Illustration for School

August 23, 2014

Hello and happy weekend everyone! In some parts of Germany, many small kids were just having their first day at school this week and this is why I’m sharing this DIY for a school notebook with a free printable with school-themed illustrations to glue onto the notebook.
Maybe some of you even want to make such a notebook for university or their job, just without the school stuff!? :)
Here we go:

Supplies for making a notebook:

You need:
– A normal excercise book in any size you like
– Pretty paper for the cover
– A plier to remove the staples
– Scissor, ruler, glue, pens, masking tape
– Needle and thread or a sewing machine
– A printer for printing out the free printables

How to make your own notebook with a pretty cover:

Leave some millimeters space when cutting out so that everything fits nicely when closing the notebook.

Fold the cover with the book inside, close it and see if everything fits well.

Then open it again, use your needle and thread or your sewing machine and sew all layers onto each other.

School-themed illustration and free printable

As a next step, print out the pree printable. You can either use the colored one or the black and white version for letting your kid color it itself.
For a higher resolution, you can here download the free school illustration printable in black and white.

For a higher resolution, download here the free school illustration printable in color.

Embellish your notebook

As a next step, you can now cut out the illustrations. Leave them like they are or color them (with your kid).

Glue the illustrations onto the notebook.

Then use your masking tape and glue it over the thread.

You’re done, yippie!

Have lots of fun with making this pretty notebook, I bet this makes writing down homework or notes a lot happier! :)
Have a lovely weekend!

My Life in Instagram Photos: Our Sweet Vienna Adventure

August 20, 2014

Hello everyone! It’s been nearly one month ago that my best friend Anja and I have been travelling to beautiful Vienna to visit our friend Stef and her sweet flatmate Angie. The week there was wonderful and here you can see in Instagram photos what we’ve been doing. :)

Here are some of my highlights, but more about that later! :) All in all, this week was filled with friendship, laughter, good talks, maaaany photos, good food and bright colors. Here we go:

Our flight from Berlin to Vienna was great (I looove flying), we were welcomed warmly with a delicious antipasti dinner and we slept well in our new Vienna bed. :)

On the first day we started exploring the city and directly fell in love with it. All those beauiful old buildings! We had lunch at the Naschmarkt and ate falafels at Tewa, soo good!

We also went to Eis Greissler, very delicous! Stef and Angie showed us around all the pretty places and tourists sights and we were super tired in the evening.

On Friday there was one of my absolute hightlights: we drove to the mountains!!! Awww! I love mountains and haven’t been there for many years. So as we drove there and the mountains became higher and higher, I got suuper excited. We first drove to a summer toboggan run and then took a chair lift to the top of a 1600m mountain. Getting up there was a bit scary, but it was so worth it!

The view was simply breathtaking, jumping around there was one of my favorite moments this year so far!!! Pure bliss!

Neither words, nor photos can describe or show how beautiful nature is around there!

After enjoying being on the top of the mountain, relaxing for a while and taking the chair lift down the first third, we lend some mountain cards to go down with the the other two thirds of the way. It was hillarious and we were having the best time, couldn’t stop laughing! :D It felt like playing Mario Cart in real life! :)

The way back was beautiful, too, we simply enjoyed spending time together.

The next day was for shopping, relaxing and an awesome Mad Men themed 60s party at night. :)

One day later, we were first having delicious brunch at the Museumsquartier and then visited Schloss Schönbrunn, a must-see tourist attraction. ;)

And then: another mega highlight, the Prater! I loooove funfairs so much and we went there on a sunny summer Sunday, just perfect!

The smell of cotton candy and candied almonds and pure joy while riding the rollercoaster. :)

The Prater has the world’s highest chain carousel, but we didn’t dare riding it. Fun fairs have such a great atmosphere, especially this one with all its awesome vintage signs and bright colors. Time with the girls was awesome and it was a perfect ending for the days with the four of us, because Anja had to leave the next morning.

After Anja left, I have been staying for two more days which Stef and I basically spent with chatting, taking outfit photos and eating good food. ;)

On the last day, we took outfit photos again and then it was time to leave my friend and beautiful Vienna.

Up in the air high above the clouds, flying home after a wonderful week, bringing with me lovely memories. :)
I love travelling and spending time with friends! Where have you been doing these holidays?
Happy late summer!

What I Wore: Vienna Chic

August 17, 2014

Shirt, skirt & melon bag: h&m, borrowed by Stef
Sandals: saltwater sandals, borrowed by Stef
Hat: nanu nana
Necklace: LiebeLu via DaWanda

Hallo everyone, here’s a new contribution to my outfit gallery! :) Nearly three weeks ago, I spent one wonderful week in Vienna. Anja and I have been visiting Stef and stayed there for an awesome time.
On the last few days, Stef and I shot photos for some outfit posts. We first did that during our very first time together while we and Stefanie have been working on our ‘How to shop and style vintage clothes‘ guide and noticed how well this works. :)
This time, we decided on something different: Stef and I share the love for pretty clothes and accessories and although our style sometimes is similar, it usually is quite different, especially with regard to our preferred colors we wear. Since we have similar clothing sizes and the same shoe size, we have already been switching some outfit pieces last time and thought about doing this again. But: now we wanted to wear an outfit in which we feel still feel comfortable, BUT which normally perfectly fits the style of the other. So in the end, I got to wear a super pretty typical Stef-outfit with red, white and neutrals (I normally only seldomly wear red) and Stef got to wear a typical Lu-outfit with pink and mint. You can see Stef’s outfit switch on her blog this evening. :)
So here’s mine:
Tadaaaaa! I love both outfits A LOT, but it’s so funny how choosing other colors, shapes and accessories totally changes the overall look and makes me even look much older and mature. :) Such a fun experiment! Moreover, the most fun thing probably was watching Stef in my clothes, imagining how I normally look wearing them myself, giggling at each other about the switch. ;)

My Vienna Chic Switch Outfit

Now here’s what I wore during our fun shot at the pretty Belvedere castle in the center of beautiful Vienna, having the view over the city in the background and enjoying a super pretty and relaxing day.

Wearing this color combination for me rather felt like being in late summer and I loved the neutrals matching this bright red.

Those saltwater sandals are simply great (I have a pair in turquoise myself and I love them a lot) and they nicely match the skirt (I wish I had stolen it from Stef… ;)) and the watermelon bag.

When looking at those photos, I again totally feel the relaxation of this moment and the nice fresh summer breeze that we had on that day during our outfit shoot. I miss Vienna and the girls!

This necklace is such a treasure, I love that you can combine it with nearly everything.

Wearing this outfit felt super comfortable and I loved stepping out of my normal comfort zone a little bit. Maybe I sometimes should also include some neutrals and more red into my wardrobe for getting more variety into what I am wearing.
This was a super fun project and I’m already looking forward to doing this again with Stef one day! :)
Hoorrayyyy for friends who share your interests and have fun at doing something like this with you!
Don’t forget to check out her blogpost later today and have a lovely Sunday!
