DIY Video: Camera Strap Sewing Tutorial

June 22, 2015

Hello everyone, have a wonderful day! :) For all of you who are planning some exciting summer holidays or sightseeing trips, I prepared a new video for my DIY category. For this shot, I again teamed up with DaWanda (we already shot the video last year) and we are showing you how to sew a camera strap in just a few easy steps.

The DIY is suited for sewing beginners as well as for advanced sewers and you won’t need many supplies.

Watch the full camera strap DIY video yourself:

In the video you can find detailed instructions for how to sew a camera strap yourself.

Have a look at my sketch for some details and to know about how to cut your fabric:

Measurements and supplies for the camera strap:

Here’s what you need:
– Cotton fabric
– (Faux) leather
– A cotton strap
– Scissors & pins
– Sewing machine and conventional sewing supplies
– Two metal rings and hooks

Here you can see the faux leather endings in a close-up shot.

Such a pretty strap!

If you like the fabric as much as I do, check our supercraft, it is from one of their DIY kits. :)

Wheeeeow, so easy!
Enjoy using your new camera strap and happy summer (I hope it will be coming soon…)! :)

An Ice Cream Party with Ben & Jerry’s (And Free Ice Cream Illustration Printable)

June 13, 2015

[Werbung:] Hello everyone, happy sunny weekend! Summer is here and what is then better than talking about ice cream? :D

Do you remember last year when I was at Ben & Jerry’s Taste and Tunes Tour or this winter when I was at an ice cream tasting event in Hamburg? :) This time, Ben & Jerry’s has invited me again and I drove to wonderful Hamburg for a lovely ice cream party blogger evening.

The evening was not only dedicated to eating ice cream, but also to honor the winners of Ben & Jerry’s initiative “Are you the next Ben & Jerry’s?” With this initiative, the brand is supporting sustainable projects which help to make the world a better place and we had the honor to get to know this time’s winners, Victoria of NearBees and Daniel of Green Lab Berlin (more about them later in this post :)).

At an Ice Cream Party with Ben & Jerry’s

We ate LOTS of ice cream, one of my fave flavors is the one with speculoos (OMG, it’s devine!!!).

To get more information, wonderful Hilke of Ben & Jerry’s told us about the history and the philosophy of this great ice cream brand. Such an inspiring story! If you are curious, read more about Ben & Jerry’s story yourself.

After having learned a lot about how this ice cream brand came into life, we were spoiled with tons of ice cream and a sweet table with fruits and chocolate to decorate and prettily arrange the sundaes ourselves. So much fun!

Daniel of Green Lab Berlin and I had such pretty ice cream creations on our plates. I could to this every day! :)

After eating ice cream, he told me more about the brand that he and his two colleagues have brought to life: they are using
the shells of cocoa beans which are usually thrown away by the industry
and instead, they turn them into fertilizer for flowers which smells
like chocolate! What an amazing idea! Imagine working on your balcony and then having the smell of chocolate in your nose with caring for your plants. :)>> Support Green Lab Berlin’s crowdfunding campaign

Wuoah, cinnamon bun ice cream! I wish they had this in my local supermarket, sooo good!

Those books are too cute! If you want to inform yourself, hop over to the website and read everything about Ben & Jerry’s mission. :)

So so pretty! I styled this ice cream plate and I wish I could to this every single day in summer. :D

Another highlight of the evening was meeting Jerry. THE Jerry. The Jerry who is the co-founder of this wonderful ice cream brand. He told us his story and we were able to ask him questions. Such an inspiring person!

Apart from getting to know Green Lab Berlin, I also got to know lovely Viktoria of nearBees. She had the wonderful idea to send honey in envelopes and has designed a special piece of packaging for this purpose. Thus, one can order honey from local beekeepers (currently only around Munich, but soon, this will also be possible in other cities), gets to know where the bees are from and which flowers they have in their environment. You can easily order your honey via mail and support local businesses. Such a wonderful idea!

Together with the honey, we got a package with flower seeds (yippie, for my balcony! :)) which is supposed to attract bees in order to get to know the bees from my neighborhood. Such a wonderful concept! After having come home from the event in Hamburg, I used the honey package I got from Viktoria to fill it into an empty honey bear. It’s delicious! And with the QR code, I can get information about where it is from. Awesome project!!!>> Support nearBees’ crowdfunding campaign

It was a super nice evening with Jerry, Daniel, Viktoria and all the other blogger girls Nicole, Susanne, Jasmin, Conny, Janina, Jojo, Lisa and Sarah.

Ice cream and summer, there’s hardly anything better! :)

Get Your Happy Ice Cream Illustration Printable

Because I couldn’t take you all with me to this event, I’ve got a little surprise for you: during my preparations for my trip to Hamburg, I made a colorful ice cream illustration and I want to share it with you. :)
>>> Download the free ice cream illustration printable.
Have fun with the printable and in case you share a photo online, feel free to tag me so that I can see it (@luloveshandmade on Instagram and everywhere else). :))
Thanks for inviting me to your ice cream event, dear Ben & Jerry’s team and you, my dear readers, have a super happy summer and grab some ice cream!
Lu
P.S.: Although this blogpost is part of a cooperation with Ben & Jerry’s, this does not change the fact that I only write what I personally think and like. :)

Colorful Springtime Brunch

May 4, 2015

Hello everyone, happy Monday! Those of you who have been following me for a while know that I love a colorful home with bright furniture and many bright and colorful pieces of homeware and decor. Who couldn’t then be a better coop partner than Rice DK?

RiceDK is a Danish company for colorful kitchenware and homeware and has everything for you to make you happy “when you are cooking and baking, washing
and cleaning, relaxing and enjoying the magic of everyday life…” Just wonderful! I have been buying RiceDK’s kitchenware for a while now and this time, I got to choose some new pretty new pieces for my home which I am now showing you with a colorful spring brunch. :) Most of the items are from the current spring and summer collection 2015.

A colorful spring brunch with RiceDK

Most of the dishes I use are from RiceDK (some are from IKEA) and I love all the pops of color which they add to my home and to my everyday life. I chose those cute heart-shaped egg holders, plates, bowls, cups and even cutlery. Wow, so so pretty!

The mixture of shapes and patterns is so lovely and since I got all those pieces of kitchenware, I enjoy eating even more. ;)

Back in April, I then prepared a colorful brunch for some of my closest friends. I made a food table with sweet things, savory treats and drinks and prettily decorared my kitchen table.

The bowls are filled with orange-vanilla-coconut rice pudding with raspberries, there’s juice and raspberry-coconut milkshakes, mmmhh!

On the counter you can find even more declious things which look extra pretty in all of those bowls from RiceDK and which match the rest of my kitchen really well.

Apart from buying fruit juice, I prepared infused water with fresh mint, lemon and orange.

Moreover, I bought a cake and donuts, made fresh waffles, a fruit salad, prepared sweet scrambled eggs with fruits, made fresh spring curd with chives, cucumber, tomatoes and onions, prepared cheese, vegetables and made a tomato herb butter after a recipe I got from my best friend aentschie. I love the combination of cake stands and bowls and how they prettily displays all the food.

All those things were so so delicious and looked even more tasty on those colorful plates with the lovely patterns. Eeeeeks, colors make me oh so happy!

What I really loved was the combination of food table, buffet and kitchentable.

The rice pudding was one of my favorites that day. While writing this blogpost, I wish I could eat all of this again now. ;)

Oh those colors of the dishes! And did you spot the cute watermelon cups? Eeeks!

We all ate way too much and I had leftovers for a few days and even brought some things to work. :D

Mhhh, this was good!
And here’s a little surprise for you:

Dungarees Spring Look

April 7, 2015

[Werbung:] Hello lovely readers! It’s been a while since my last outfit post, it was late October, wow! :) Today it’s time for a new one. :)
Dungarees: c/o mydearlove
Shirt, cardigan & hat: h&m
Earrings & sparkling ring: sixx
Sneakers: osco

What I Wore: A Spring Outfit with mydearlove

This time, it’s a really special outfit post, because it’s for a collaboration with the wonderful indie label mydearlove. Anke & Moni design and create the most wonderful and magical clothes and I got choose something for my own wardrobe, yippie! :)
Spring is slowly coming and although it still is really fresh outside, I got to wear my pretty pair of dungarees for the first time and my friend Alexander Rentsch was so kind to take these photos of my outfit. If you need a photographer in Berlin, hop over and check out his fantastic work! :)

Because I love white shirts with lovely prints, I’ve chosen this “Do what you love Mydear” shirt.

One shirt is for me, one of you can win the other (more information at the end of this blogpost :)).

The most important piece of this outfit is the wonderful pair of denim dungarees which I got in the long version (available as shorts in Anke’s and Moni’s shop). For me this was quite a challenge, because wearing a pair of dungarees means stepping out of my comfort zone and natural clothing style. :)

The dungarees have great pockets and a pretty bib, embellished with a white zig zag ribbon.

To make this outfit look even more casual, I decided to wear my beloved black hat which I got last year.

Those dungarees are so comfy! I think they aren’t only nice for a casual everyday life outfit, but would also be great for travelling.

There’s even a front pocket, so pretty.

Yippie, happy girl! :) I love cooperations with indie brands and with promoting handmade products, this is so much fun! And mydearlove made the dungarees for my individual measurements, what a pleasure. We’ve already been following each other for a while, so the pleasure for me is even bigger. :)
Haha, and please don’t laugh at me: I chose the yellow cardigan for a fresh spring style and when then looking at the photos afterwards, I recognized that my outfit slightly reminds of a Minion. :D But nevermind, Minions are awesome and some of the happiest creatures ever, so why not! :)

Win a Typo Shirt from mydearlove

To share the happiness with you, mydearlove is giving away this wonderful shirt for you in size M.
All you need to do is to leave your name and e-mail adress in the comment section below.
The giveaway is open to national as well as to international readers and
will be closed on Sunday, April 19, on 6p.m., only one entry per person
is accepted. I’ll randomly draw a winner and write him or her an e-mail. Only complete entries count for participation!
