Happy Mail Day – Send a Holiday Postcard with the FUNCARD App (with Giveaway!)

August 2, 2015

[Werbung:] Summer, adventures, holidays! I hope you are all having a wonderful summertime and enjoy your vacation or at least a long weekend to the fulltest! :)
This time, I have teamed up with Deutsche Post to show you a new app that they have developed, an app with which you can send postcards to your loved ones from all over the world, the FUNCARD App.

With this app, you don’t have to buy a normal postcard and bring it to the post office and hope that it will arrive at your loved one’s home before you are back yourself. Instead, you can use your own holiday photos and use the app to get them printed and delivered for you. But let’s start at the beginning of the process:

The FUNCARD App – Send a Postcard with Your Own Photos

First of all, enjoy your holidays and have a lovely time off! This can either be someplace else in the world or even in the area where you live! Go on holidays in your own town – discover new places and share the love for the spots you love the most and then send away postcards and invite your loved ones to join you next time!

So here’s how the FUNCARD App works: take photos. Then download the app, load your photos into the app, edit them if you want to, add text, a message and the adress and then let the German post get the postcard delivered for you. So here it is in detail:

Download the FUNCARD app for iOS or download the FUNCARD app for Android smartphones and tablets. Moreover, there will shortly be the release of the FUNCARD app for Windows phones as well.

Inside the app, you can upload the photos you have taken (make sure the photo quality is good!) and then you can individually design your postcards which can then be shipped worldwide with the app. You can use several filters or can even add text to the front side of the postcard.

Then you can add a text to the postcard’s back and add the adress of the recipient. What is extra cool it that there is the function to send serial cards: you can create individual serial cards which can then individually be sent to different recipients. You can pay via credit card or pay pal, one postcard with shipping costs 1,90€ and handling the app is super easy.

As a next step, the German post will send away your postcards. They are produced in Germany and usually shipping of the cards takes only 24 hours. The cards are embellished with stamps and then shipped worldwide.

Eeeeks, so pretty! The cardboard is really thick and of a nice quality.

You can use different fonts and letter colors for the postcard’s back.

The colors are bright and shiny and the postcards arrived within just two days, wohoo!

That was super easy and comfortable and I love the idea of sending postcards with my own holiday photos directly from my phone, this is so so practical and personal.

Win a FUNCARD Voucher to Print Photos Yourself

To share the holiday mail happiness with you, I am giving away some FUNCARD vouchers:
Five readers of you can each win a voucher for sending away three postcards for free. I will then draw winners and send you the voucher codes for the app.

Terms for entering the giveway:
– Leave a comment under this blogpost with your e-mail adress
– Only one entry per person, only complete entries with e-mail adress and product link count.
– You have to be at least 18 years old to participate.
– The giveaway ends on Sunday, August 9, on 6 p.m. and is open to worldwide participation. I will draw five winners randomly and contact him or her via e-mail. If I don’t get a response within 14 days, I will determine a new winner.
– The giveaway takes place without the possibility of recourse to legal action, the prize won’t be payed in cash.
– The e-mail adress of the winners will be published on this blog and by participating, you agree to this.
– The five winners will each receive a voucher for sending three free FUNCARD postcards with the app.

Good luck and thanks for reading, I hope you will send away lots of wonderful individualized holiday postcards!
Lu

P.S.: This blogpost was written for a cooperation with Deutsche Post but everything is my own subjective opinion.

UPDATE (August 14, 2015):
I determined the five winners via random.org, they will now receive an e-mail:

DIY: Gift Bag with Animal Printable

July 30, 2015

Hello my dear readers, happy Thursday evening! It’s time for a new DIY and new free printable.

Last year, I made those cute and super simple illustrations and attached them to handmade gift bags which I filled with sweets for my colleagues. I am showing you how you can do it yourself.

What you need:
– (Gift wrapping) paper
– Scissors, masking tape and a stapler
– Pen and paper or a printer
– Sweets / candy

Make your own Gift Bags with the Animal Printable

Of course you need sweets, many sweets – or you fill your bags with any other kind of surprise.

Use a printer to print out my free animal illustrations or use pen and paper to make your own ones.

Download the Animal Illustrations

Download the illustration with cat, robot, racoon, dog, bear and box. Print them out and leave them black and white or color them yourself.

Next, choose different kinds of pretty (gift wrapping) paper and masking tape.

Cut out rectangular pieces of paper in any size you want. The bigger the pieces of paper, the bigger your bags will turn out in the end.

Put the paper onto the table, the right side facing it. Then fold the left and right edge to the middle, make sure the edges overlap a bit and then use tape to attach them to each other. Fold over the bottom part. The wider the fold, the more depth your bag will have.

Take the longer edges of your fold, fold them to the middle and stick them together with tape.
Your bag is ready.

Now take your printable or the illustration you made yourself.

Use scissors to cut them out, fill the bags, close them and punch the illustrations to the bags.

In my case, the illustrations were fitting to my colleagues who got them. One has a dog, one is a fox lover, one loves robots…

Have fun with this DIY and feel free to show me your bags and the usage of the printable on Instagram (find me as @luloveshandmade). :)

Happy day!

Ice Cream Heaven and Movie Night with Ben & Jerry’s in Berlin

July 22, 2015

[Werbung:] Wohooo, yesterday was wonderful! Those of you who have been following my blog for a while might know that I am a big ice cream fan and that I have already been working on a few fun coop projects with Ben & Jerry’s in the past year. :)

Last summer, I visited Ben & Jerry’s Taste and Tunes tour in Berlin and took tons of photos and I went to their ice cream tasting party in Hamburg in February and and to their other ice cream event in June.

Peace, Love and Ice Cream: Ben & Jerry’s Movie Night

This time, Ben & Jerry’s planned something completely different: a tour through Germany with free ice cream and open air movie nights, such a wonderful idea for summer!

The event took place at the Malzfabrik in Berlin-Tempelhof, thousands of ice cream lovers came for free ice cream and to watch ‘Her’ in the open air movie theater and I was invited to join the crew, eat as much ice cream as I could and to use the location as a photo playground, yippie!

The silence before the storm. I wish I could have taken one of those wonderful chairs with me, I love those bright colors. :)

As every time, the crew is wonderful and brings lots of joy into the day, everyone has fun and is excited about ICE CREAM and a fun day in the sun!

Ben & Jerry’s is not only about delicious ice cream, but they also have a mission: to help to make the world a little better by means of supporting different projects and good causes (read more about their mission) and of course they also want to help to stop climate change. Make sure to help and contribute to the mission, it is super easy, you can simply sign the petition for climate justice!

When the crowd came in, there was a welcome speech and all the people were so so so excited about getting ice cream for free and to try out new flavors they haven’t tried before. :)

Inside the bus, there were freezers with as much ice cream as the eye could see, paradise!

Yippie yay, seconds before the bus opened to serve ice cream all evening.

Ice cream bus playground! Wuoah, so many people waiting for refreshment!

Just like last year, I was able to play ice cream fairy myself, so much fun! As I already said a few times, in my next life I’m gonna be an ice cream vendor with my own pink ice cream truck. :D

People sat in the grass, soaking up summer sun and enjoying their ice cream.

Because the line outside the area was soooo long, the lovely crew took shorties to the entrance to give it to the people who were still waiting.

Mhhhh, ice cream as far as the eye could see! :D

Save our swirled and do it better!

Could. not. stop. eating. ice. cream! Too good! :) The speculatius one is my fave ice cream of all times, mhhh!

Playing Ben and Jerry.

My lovely friends aentschie and Anna Sterntaler joined the ice cream fun as well and took lots of fun photos with me. :) Anja has also taken all those photos of me you can see here in the blogpost. Thaaank you again! :*

Berlin, inofficial ice cream capital! :)

Whohooooo, such a fun day with such a great crew!

When the sun went down and all bellies were filled with tons of ice cream, all the people got ready for watching the movie, took out their blankets, picnic snacks and ate even more ice cream.

Summer Lemonade – Make a Picnic or Food Table with Free Printables

July 20, 2015

[Werbung:] Yippie yay for summer! The past weeks have been warm and sunny and even on colder summer days, there’s hardly anything better than a refreshing drink.

When having read my blog for a while, you probably know that I absolutely adore colorful parties, picnics and food tables and so I am happy about every opportunity to work on a colorful concept and work on a new styling. I was recently contacted by BIONADE and asked if I wanted to try out their new lemonade flavor – lemon-bergamot (Zitrone-Bergamotte) – and do something creative with it.

Summer Lemonade Time – Picnic or Food Table with BIONADE

Of course I wanted! :) Do you know BIONADE? It’s a German lemonade brand which only uses organic ingredients and no artificial or chemical additives. To inspire you to host a lemonade party and to try out the flavor yourself, I styled an indoor picnic and snack table and made some free printables for you which you can download. :)

Get Your Own Lemonade Freebies for Download

At the end of this blogpost, you’ll find a freebie for a ‘Lemonade’-bunting, a lemonade art print (leave it black and white or color it yourself after printing it out, this is so relaxing!), an invitation card, tags for wrapping sandwiches and lemon tags for your bottlenecks. Print out everything and decorate your kitchen, your balcony or take everything with you to your next summer picnic. :)

Make it Yellow – The Taste of Fresh Lemons

Mhhh, this lemonade tastes so so good! At home I rarely ever drink conventional lemonade, because it’s way too sweet, but this one is perfect, because it is slightly acerbic and fruity and only a little bit sweet – just with the ideal level of refreshing summer sweetness.
What BIONADE did was taking the classical lemonade flavor and then combining it with bergamots which are grown in the south of Italy by organic farmers. By supporting those farmers, this special fruit is preserved.

To make the bottles look a little more individual and to fit everything into the summer lemonade picnic theme, I made tiny lemon tags for the bottle necks, they are just too cute. You just need a puncher and some yarn to hang them up.

No picnic or summer snack table without sandwiches! Mine are with lettuce, cheese and bacon and I wrapped them in fabric, baker’s twine and the pretty black and white tags that I made.

You know I love handlettering, so I made those sandwich tags using different fonts and shapes, you can download them at the end of this blogpost. :)

When inviting guest or preparing food to take it somewhere else, I always love adding little details like toppers, colorful napkins or personalized tags. I just recently read a quote by Mies von der Rohe which says that the soul of the whole lives in the details. I couldn’t agree more! :) So this time I also took care of the details and made the sandwiches look pretty. Wrapping them in fabric and adding tags is so nice when taking them out to sit in the gras and eating them outsite or even when guest come over and are happy about the love one has put into decorating everything.

Cold lemonade with lemon slices and paper straws, this is summer!

If you want to make cute toppers for snacks, simply cut out shapes out of cardboard, glue tooth picks onto their backs with a hot-glue gun and decorate your food. I put those mini Berliners into pretty mini paper bowls which I still have left from my Rock’n’Roll birthday party past winter and which I got from lovely Partyerie.

To make the walls look prety, I made a lemonade illustration for you. Print it out, hang it onto a wall or send it away as a postcard. You can leave it black and white or use pens or paint to color it yourself, this can sometimes be so relaxing and a little escape from hectical everyday life.

What I also made is a ‘Lemonade’-bunting. You can hang it in your home and between the branches of a tree when celebrating a picnic outside. :)

Send out invites to your friends for drinking lemonade together and for sharing some extra quality time in summer, maybe during a date in the park or for a drink on the balcony after work.

Mhhh, so refreshing and the bright yellow makes me oh so happy! :)

Get Your own Free Picnic and Summer Lemonade Printables

It’s all about the little details! If you want to throw your own little lemonade party, want to prepare a summer picnic or invite friends over for a summerly dinner, you can print out the printables that I made for you. Find them here:
>>> Download the lemonade invitation, the bottleneck tags and the sandwich tags
>>> Download the ‘Lemonade’-bunting
>>> Download the lemonade art print
In case you share some photos on Instagram, make sure to tag me (@luloveshandmade) so that I can see it! :)
Have lots of fun trying out the new flavor and enjoying your own lemonade party! :)
Happy summer!
Lu

What I Wore: Lemon Summer and Birch Trees

July 12, 2015

Summer is here and I am enjoying it to the fullest and hopefully you are doing the same, too! :) Two weeks ago, my friends and I went to the Mauerpark in Berlin and spent out Sunday there in the park. To fill my outfit gallery with some pretty new photos and to try out his new camera lens, my friend Alexander Rentsch who is a photographer and I took some time to take photos between the birch trees and in the gras. See yourself! :)

Earrings: sixx
Tunique: TKmaxx
Jeans: vero moda
Sandals: asos
Necklace: handmade by studio nahili
It was such a nice Sunday, we were all completely relaxed, layed in the grass, played badminton, ate ice cream and took some photos in between. I love how Alex portrays people and details!

This was fun! Since we have been taking photos together quite often in the past few months, we have become used to one another in front of and behind the camera and it’s always fun. :)

Summer is wonderful! Enjoy those warm days and in case you need a photographer in Berlin, have a look at Alex’ portfolio. :)
Happy Sunday!
