What a great late summer weekend!

September 5, 2011

Hello! :) Did you have a great weekend? :) Mine was awesome and here are a few fake polaroid photos I took with my mobile phone. :) On Friday, Hanna and I spontaneaously went to Berlin Kreuzberg to a Turkish market. There were so many interesting people, lots of exotic food and pretty fabric. Of course I couldn’r resist buying some. :)

Later, we sat in a beergarden in the sun and had a cold beer. :)

Afterwards, we drove to IKEA where I even bought more fabric and had much fun looking at pretty funiture. On Saturday, I sewed myself a pretty, floral skirt with some fabric I bought at work.

Moreover, I made another gamepad pillow for an American customer who ordered it via etsy. :) On Sunday there was a huuuuge fabric market in Potsdam and I bought even more fabric. The pile on the photo above is my fabric loot of the whole weekend. :) Yes, I’m addicted to buying fabric and creating something with it.

On Sunday in the afternoon, Flo, a couple we are friends with and I went to the Mauerpark (Wall Park) in Berlin. Each Sunday there’s a huuuge flea market and in summer the park is full of street artists and there’s even a fantastic open air karaoke. We saw lots of pretty things, sat in the sun and enjoyed the last hot day of the year.

I love all the little treasures on can find on flea markets, I always don’t know where to look first.

We enjoyed the awesome weather all afternoon, took lots of photos and listened to the people singing karaoke. <3

These two ladies have amazing knapsacks, haven’t they? :) At the end of the day, before we ate the most delicious frozen yoghurt to end this perfect day, we listened to some drummers who were drumming the most amazing rhythms and watched all those people dancing. I love that there are always people of any age and from all walks of life and being at the Wall Park on Sundays in summer is always like being on a huge open air party. <333

I bought these 3 pretty floral plates on the flea market, each for 1€. :) Aren’t they pretty? Today I sewed 14 loop scarves, using the different kinds of pretty fabric I bought on the weekend. :) I’ll list them on DaWanda soon. :)
Did you also have a great weekend? What have you been doing? :)

I fell in love with Pinterest.

September 2, 2011

I’ve already known about the site’s existence for a few months, but I’ve just discovered how awesome Pinterest is and asked for an invite and I totally LOVE it! For those who don’t know the site yet, it’s smililar to photo sharing sites like weheartit or tumblr, but in my opinion it’s MUCH better, it’s just the perfect virtual pinboard for inspirarion. What is best about it (in comparision to tumblr or weheartit) is that one can create different kinds of boards and one thus can sort the images and not only collect and save them at random. This way, it’s easier to find something, to link back to the original source and to share inspiration. :)
I became most interested in Pinterest since we decided what we are going to relocate in fall and I’m currently totally interested in home improving and upcycling DIY ideas to become more inspired for our new apartment. Can’t wait! :)
If you are on Pinterest, too, you can find me here. :)
Happy Friday!

Oh, pretty hot-water bottle cover.

September 1, 2011

Hello, happy September! :) Here’s one of my latest sewing projects, a cover for a hot-water bottle. :) I will keep this one myself and I also made a quite similar one which I listed on DaWanda. :) My mother wants to give me a new hot-water bottle for cold days and I want it to be hidden behind pretty fabric. The cover turned out sooo beautiful that I instantly made a second one to sell it. :) I already bought more fabric for one or two more. :) How do you like it? I love the flowers and I’m so proud of my quilting seams. :) I think all the details perfectly match each other and even the button is of the same fabric. <3
What are you currently working on? Just yesterday somebody from the US ordered a gamer pillow case and I am going to work on it during the weekend. :)
Wish you a lovely day, Lu. :)

Sewing, sewing, sewing…

August 30, 2011

Sewing all day, that’s what I love doing. :) Since I don’t have to go to university and can really enjoy my semester holidays, I do a lot of sewing. I’ve been working in the most beautiful fabric store since the beginning of summer and because  there I’m surrounded by beautiful fabric all day, I’m even more inspired. I always see all different kinds of pretty fabric while I’m working there and then I automatically think about into which pretty project I could turn it. Because my colleagues are pretty good at sewing, I regularly get to know new techniques and tricks and thus, my sewing skills have become even better. After work when I’m not spending some time with Flo or my friends, I always work on a new project and sew. That’s sooo relaxing after work and I love this, I feel more inspired than ever! :)
This pair of pretty oven cloths is just one tiny project among many others, I bought the fabric yesterday and sewed them in the evening to give them to my grandparents as a present. :) I haven’t seen them for some years and will visit them soon and then I want to give them something handmade, but they own everything they need. I though these oven cloths are so pretty and colorful and that’s something that one always needs and I think they’ll love them because they are handmade by me. :)
Today you got to know what currently inspires me most, so what about you? Of course I’m also highly inspired by the Internet or by walking through the city, but is there anything else that inspires you? :)
(Wow, I just recognized that I haven’t written such a long text in a blog post for a long time. :))

24 Recipes // Number 9: Mediterranean Omelette with Curd Cheese.

August 29, 2011

Heyyy, here’s a new, totally delicious and easy recipe. :)

You need:
– Eggs (the amount of eggs depends on how hungry you are and for how many people you are making the omelette, we used 8 eggs for two people)
– Balsamico vinegar
– Olive oil
– A fresh onion
– Fresh garlic
– Olives
– Dried tomatoes
– Curd cheese
– Fresh chives

The recipe:
Chop the garlic and the onion and put them into a little bowl. Add the eggs and a dash of the balsamico vinegar. Stir everything, heat the olive oil in a pan and the add the mixture and fry it. In the meantime, cut the dried tomatoes and olives into slices, chop the chives and spread everything over the omelette as soon as it is ready. That’s it, you only have to add the curd cheese and then you have a tasty dish which does not need long to be prepared and made. :)
