For our tiny balcony.

March 3, 2012

Hello! :) I hope you are enjoying your weekend just like I do! :)
My mother got us lots of organic seeds for growing herbs and flowers for our balcony. <3 We sowed these seeds only about a week ago and see how they look! :) I love watching them grow and I’m so proud of myself that you can really see that there are little plants, because normally I’m not got at caring for plants… :) Can’t wait for spring to come and for finally decorating the balcony! :)
Do you have your own garden or balcony? It’s the first time I ever have a balcony in my life (when I was a child, we had a huuuge garden, but I moved out from home when I was 19 and since that day I have only lived in apartments which neither had a garden, nor a balycony) and I’m sooo much looking forward to see how it turns green. :)

What happened recently according to my phone pictures.

March 1, 2012

Eeeeeks, happy Thursday! :) It’s time for sharing a few photos I’ve been taking with my phone during the last weeks. :) As you can see above, I went fabric shopping at Frau Tulpe, one of my favourite fabric stores. <3 On the second photo you can see my Indie Biz 2.0 folder, I read it again and found this page where I was trying to find a name for my little business. :))) I took a photo of a pretty house in Berlin and as always, one of Mogli. :) When we were ou for a walk, I saw this pretty, blue garden house. I’d love to have a garden with a house like this… Last week, lovely Sammy sent me this pretty spool necklace, I love it! :)

Flo and I spent an afternoon in a shopping center and I got some awesome belaled birthday presents from my beloved friend Hanna who has been visiting us for a few days. <3 When she’s around (like it’s with most of our other close friends, too), it’s always like a little family meeting. <3 On Thursday, Anja and I often meet for cooking and a TV evening and last Thursday, we, Flo and Hanna were having lots of deliciois hors d’oeuvres, like dried tomatoes, hard cheese, fresh baguettes and different kinds of curd cheese. :)
My mother brougt us lots of organic seeds for vegetables and flowers and Flo and I are trying to grow them for our balcony. It’s so much fun seeing how the tiny seeds are turning into little plants… :) As you can see, I took a photo of my wardrobe. In the past few months I’ve been collecting sooo many dresses, I hardly ever wear a pair of blue jeans anymore. :) And I bought fresh tulips to get a little bit of spring feelin. :)

Last weekend we went on a little trip to visit our friends in Bremen. They were moving from one apartment to another and we came to help and to celebrate our friend’s birthday. We had really lovely weather with lots of sunshine and were happy about some time in the sun after all the hard work. :) Jenny and I went out for a walk and met the boys in a beer garden. It felt a little bit like spring. :)

They also showed us some sights and of course we visited the famous town musicians (they are from a German fairy tale, a cock standing on a cat which is standing on a dog which is standing on a donkey… :)) and took some tourist photos. :) I think Bremen is really pretty, especially the old part of the town. On the last day of our visit, Jenny and I went shopping to reward ourselves for the strenuous weekend of carrying cardboard handles, moving furniture, unpacking belongings from boxes and preparing food. It was lots of fun, but we were sooo tired and felt that we needed a second weekend to recover from the actual one. :)
The weird thing about those weekends with friends is that when we say good-bye, on the one hand, I’m always looking forward to being alone at home, but on the other hand, it makes me sad because most of our close friends live in other parts of Germany and we do not see each other evey weekend and it’s always hard to say goodbye. The hardest goodbye was just a few weeks ago when nearly all of our friends were here for celebrating New Year’s Eve together and we had to say goodbye to all of them at once.
Are you a lucky one who has all the most important people around? :)
Have you ever been to Bremen? What have you been doing last weekend? :)
Lu :)

For the men out there.

February 29, 2012

Hi everyone! :) On the weekend Flo and I went to a friend’s birthday and I sewed him this moustache pencil case. I still love the moustache trend and I thought it would be a nice gift for a man. :) How do you like it? I especially love the color contrast.
I still have plenty of this fabric left and I’m soon going to make a few more items for my shop with it. :) Let me know if you have any special wishes… :)
Happy Wednesday,
Lu

An easy sewing project – a fruity kitchen apron

February 28, 2012

Hello! ;) Today I wanna show you how to make such a pretty apron! :) It’s pretty easy, and espacially for people with advanced sewing skills it is a project which can be sewed really fast. If you are a beginner, it won’t be difficult, too. :)
You need conventional sewing supplies, packaging paper for the pattern, bias tape (for my pattern, I needed about 4,5m / 14,7 feet, but it depends on the apron’s size) and two kinds of fabric. I chose a kitchen pattern for the front and white fabric for the back, so that the apron wouldn’t become too thin.
My apron is about 55cm / 21,65″ wide (the lower part of the apron) and about 70cm / 27,56″ long (only the apron itself without the bias tape).
For sewing the apron, just make a pattern. Use packaging paper and vertically fold it in the middle so that your pattern will become symmetrically.
Cut out the shape of your apron (mine is really simple, this makes sewing easier) and pin it onto your two layers of fabric. Cut out the shape of your apron. Next. put the two layers onto each other, right sides facing. Then, sew around the whole apron, leaving a seam allowance of about 1cm / 0,39″ and leave an opening at the bottom of your apron which you can use to turn the fabric inside out as a next step. Afterwards, iron your apron’s edges and close the opening with a small seam.
Next, pin the bias tape to the apron’s edges and sew. My bias tape goes around the whole apron. I also used it for binding the apron in the back and in the neck. :)
That’s it, a short and easy tutorial. Let me know if you have some more questions! :)
