My boyfriend and I both dressed up, but made low-budget costumes with little effort and as always when I plan something, I got inspired on Pinterest.
DIY: Space Party Costumes
I wanted to be completely silver, calling myself Space Princess Lu Lightning for the occasion. 😀 I had already bought the silver skirt and glitter shoes for my own 30th birthday last year and I only had to add the rest of the look.
For my shirt, I bought one meter of silver fabric at idee. Creativmarkt for 6€, used an old shirt which I really like as a pattern and then sewed a new simple silver shirt myself, having a round neckline and huge armholes. So much fun!
Matching the whole party theme and the decor, one of the presents we got Franzi was this cute spaceship enamel pin. Eeeks!
For his costume, my boyfriend bought himself a simple first aid heat blanked to use it as a shirt and I brought him an elastic ribbon as a headband. We then got inspired by some of the outfit ideas from my space costume board on Pinterest and he made himself an easy jetpack.
Using spray paint to upcycle plastic water bottles and using some of my colorful fabric scraps, all those supplies could be quickly turned into his costume accessory.
Yippie, let’s go off to space!
Mister Moon Explorer and Miss Silver Lightning. 😀
In total, the two of us together spent less than 20€ on both of our costumes for that evening, being well-dresses and mostly using accessories and items that we already owned, only buying some additional supplies.
I looove dressing up and as you may have probably read in my old blogposts, I love theme parties! 🙂
The Space Princess Birthday Queen
With purple hair and a spacey look, birthday princess Franzi looked extra gorgeous!
Franzi sewed her own vintage-inspired dress from silver fabric that she bought, made her accessories herself and of course she also came up with intergalactic decor.
Thank you for the fun night and another galactic occasion to dress up! 🙂
What has been your last time you wore a costume?
