The pretty garland tote bag is back! :)

July 28, 2011

Hello! :) Remember the garland tote bag I made a few months ago? Back then, I attached little pieces of fabric to a jute bag and this time, I used textile color and handprinted the garland on the tote bag. :)
So those bags are back again in my shop and can be bought both on DaWanda and on etsy. :)
Moreover, when I printed the bags yesterday, I also printed those little triangles on fabric leftovers which I will use for sewing some pouches. :)

Wish you a nice day! :) Lu

This is where I live.

July 26, 2011

Good morning! :) A few weeks ago Kim asked me to write a guest post for her blog about the town where I’m living and now I want to share this on my own blog, too. :)
I have been living in Potsdam for over 2 years now, it’s my place of residence and I love this city so much. Potsdam is full of beautiful, old buildings, a lot of them have been restored and here’s much water and lots of green areas and romantic parks. What is more, Potsdam is really close to Berlin, so you don’t need much time to go to the city. :)
Here I’m gonna show you some photos of Potsdam I took during the last two years to give you an impression of how it looks here. :)

On those two lomography actionsampler photos you can see the old Nikolai Church and a part of the New Palace, two of Potsdam’s famous buildings.

On the left, there’s the New Palace, it is located in Park Sans Souci, one of Germany’s most famous parks. On the right, there’s the place in front of the Nikolai Church and the old city hall which is normally full of tourists. :)

As you can see on those two images, a lot of buildings have already been restored, but there are also some left which seem to be forgotten. I love those contrasts in our townscape.

On the left, you can see the Dutch quarter, there are many tiny cafes and restaurants and next to the quarter, there’s a lovely market every day where one can buy regional fruits and vegetables. On the right, there’s one of the many beautiful places at the water, because Potsdam is surrounded by many lakes. :)

Potsdam has the best ice-cream parlor ever, they sell the most delicious sorbets. :) What is more, since here is so much water, we also have water cabs, they are like a huge cab on the water in form of a boat.

Here’s the Nikolai Church again, located behind the University for applied sciences. On the right, there’s the Little Brandenburger Tor which is located in Potsdam’s city center, it is an adaption of the original Brandenburger Tor in Berlin.

Here’s the beautiful Brandenburger Tor again and the Nauener Tor. The original city center was surrounded by a wall, but today, only its gates still exist. The two shown on the photos are just two of them.

Thanks for reading! :) In case you have once posted about your own hometown, let me know and leave me a link, I’d love to see where my readers are coming from. :)

The best birthday present I ever made – a gamepag gamer pillow

July 24, 2011

Awwww, I got it done!!! :) It’s been Flo’s birthday a few days ago and apart from a material present I bought for him, I’ve been sewing this super duper pillow case. It has taken me a lot of time and effort, but it was worth every secong and I’m soooo proud of the result. :) I can hardly believe that it looks sooo good, although I never attended any sewing class. :)
So here are a few photos and if you want to have such a pillow case yourself, you can order one in my DaWanda shop or I can list it on etsy if there’s anybody who wants one and doesn’t speak German. Just leave me a message. :)

He really loves his new pillow. :)

What do you think? :)

24 New Recipes // Number 8: Vegetables with Curry and Hotcakes.

July 21, 2011

Hello! :) It’s been a while since my last post for ’24 recipes’, so here’s a new one. I started series because on my last birthday when I turned 24, I decided to try out 24 new recipes by my next birthday, so this is number 8. :)

What you need for this recipe:
-150g spelt wholemeal
– Baking powder
– Salt
– 50ml of milk
– 2 eggs
– Some carrots
– 2 bell peppers
– An onion
– Some garlic
– Two table spoons of oil
– Curry paste
– Some vegetable broth

1. First of all, you need to prepare the dough for the little hotcakes. Therefore, mix the flour, a table spoon of salt, some baking powder, the milk, 75 milliliters of water and the eggs in a bowl. Stir everything up and let the dough soak for about half an hour while you prepare everything else.

2. Next, wash the carrots and the pepper bells and cut them into slices. Moreover, chop the onion and the garlic.

3. Heat some oil in a pot, steam the chopped onion and the garlic and then add the carrot slices and the pepper bell slices. Add about 2 table spoons of curry paste and some vegetable broth and then cook it slowly for about 15 minutes.

4. In the meantime, heat some oil in a pan and fry the hotcakes. Therefore, use about 1-2 table spoons of dough for each hotcake.

5. As soon as the hotcakes are ready to be served, the vegetables should be soft enough to eat them. :) I served it in a little bowl with some fresh natural joghurt and it was soooo delicious! :) Have fun!
