Hey everyone! Are you planning a summer adventure? Are you going on holidays soon? For this week’s wonderful summer DIY, I am teaming up with Volkswagen and I’d like to give you some tips for how to design a road trip shirt for your next adventure and I’m also sharing a free printable with you.
Halli Hallo! Plant Ihr auch schon Euer nächstes Sommer-Abenteuer oder fahrt bald in den Urlaub? Für das wundervolle Sommer-DIY dieser Woche habe ich mich mit Volkswagen zusammen getan und zeige Euch, wie Ihr ganz einfach ein Roadtrip-Shirt machen könnt. Außerdem gibt es mal wieder ein kostenloses Printable für Euch.
In this blogpost, I will show you how to print an illustration onto a shirt, either with your own drawing, or my printable. Like that you are perfectly prepared for your next road trip and for your travels this summer.
In diesem Blogpost zeige ich Euch, wie Ihr eine Illustration auf ein Shirt druckt, entweder mit Eurer eigenen Zeichnung, oder mit meinem Printable. So seid Ihr perfekt auf Euren nächsten Roadtrip und die Reiserei diesen Sommer vorbereitet.
Moreover, you can downlad the handlettering and use it to decorate your apartment or as a gift. Hooray!
Außerdem könnt Ihr das Roadtrip Handlettering auch als normalen Print ausdrucken und damit Eure Wohnung verschönen oder ihn verschenken, hurra!
Materials for Your Own Road Trip Shirt:
This is what you need:
– A white cotton shirt
– A hot iron
– Some leftover fabric for practicing the printing process (not shown)
– Paper, pens, pencils, a rubber and scissors
– A scanner and a photo editing program (in case you want to make the motif yourself)
– Shirt printing foil
– An ink-jet printer
Das braucht Ihr dafür:
– Ein weißes Bauwolshirt
– Ein Bügeleisen
– Ein Stück Stoffrest für einen Testdruck (nicht auf dem Foto abgebildet)
– Papier, Bleistifte, Filzer, einen Radiergummi und eine Schere
– Einen Scanner und ein Bildbearbeitungsprogramm (falls Ihr das Motiv selbst machen wollt)
– Eine Folie für den Shirtdruck
– Einen Tintenstrahl-Drucker
Make Your Own Road Trip Shirt with my Handlettering Print:
For this project, you can either print out my handlettering file, or you can make your own one.

To print the file, make sure to mirror it and then print it according to the manual.
Für dieses Projekt könnt Ihr entweder meine Handlettering-Datei ausdrucken, oder Euchselbst ein Motiv machen.

Um das Motiv zu drucken, müsst Ihr es zuerst spiegeln und könnt es dann nach den Angaben auf der Papier-Anleitung ausdrucken.
In case your want to make your own handlettering or illustration, grab a pen and paper and create your own one.
Falls Ihr Euer eigenes Handlettering oder eine Illustration machen wollt, schnappt Euch Stift und Papier und legt los.
Next, scan your drawing and edit it in Photoshop. Adjust the brightness and contrast and mirror the image on a horizontal line so that it can be printed out correctly. Then print it according to the fabric printing paper’s manual. Use a piece of leftover fabric for a first try and to get used to the printing foil, then do it properly on your shirt afterwards.
Als nächstes scannt Ihr die Zeichnung und bearbeitet sie in Photoshop. Passt Helligkeit und Kontrast an und spiegelt das Motiv auf der horizontalen Ebene, so dass es vernünftigt ausgedruckt werden kann. Dann druckt es nach den Angaben auf der Verpackung des Shirt-Papiers. Nutzt zuerst ein altes Stück Stoff für einen Probedruck um Euch an die Folie zu gewöhnen, danach kann es dann richtig los gehen.
After cutting out the motif (either your own printed drawing, or the handlettering I provided you with), use your hot iron and iron the shirt printing foil according to the manual.
Nachdem Ihr das Motiv ausgeschnitten habt (entweder von Eurer eigenen Zeichnung, oder von meinem Handlettering), nehmt Eurer Bügeleisen und bügelt die Folie nach den Angaben der Bedienungsanleitung auf Euer Shirt.
After letting everything cool down, carefully peel off the foil. Then your shirt is ready – hooray!
Nachdem alles schön abgekühlt ist, könnt Ihr vorsichtig die Folie abziehen. Und schon ist Euer Shirt fertig, juhu!
