How to Shop & Style Vintage Clothing: Outfit Two

August 29, 2012

Dress: bought at Humana
Earrings: s.i.x.
Bracelet and mini handbag: H&M
Wedges: SPM fun

Hello everyone, here’s my second outfit of the vintage styling series which I created with my lovely new friends Stef of Magnoliaelectric and Stefanie of Squeaky Swing and this time, I’ve been wearing one of my favorite vintage summer dresses.
As we already wrote, we want to show you what to do with vintage clothes and want to show you how beautiful vintage dresses are and how prettily you can style them in a super easy way. We didn’t style them in a super complicated way, but rather want to show simple ideas for how to wear those old dresses in everyday life and as you can see when you read the other posts, we love dresses with belts. :)
Those photos were also taken by Stef & Stefanie during our week we spent with each other, we had such a great afternoon preparing all those outfit photos!

When I bought this dress a few months ago, it was way too long and since I like knee-length dresses a lot, I had to shorten it myself (maybe I’ll one day we’ll provide you with a tutorial for how to do this in relation to this vintage clothing series… :)). The day we took those photos, it has still been really shapeless, but with adding the fabric belt which belongs to the dress, it clinged to the body.
When I choose my outfit of the day, I always pay attention to color schemes and like in this outfit, I love to use accessories that match the dress itself.
What is more, this outfit includes several contrasts: not only the colors are highly contrastive, but also the shapes – in this outfit, I wear big, round earrings and a dress with stripes and because of the matching colors, this goes pretty well together.
The dress has a clear shape, whereas the wedges have floral details and have a rather romantic style, but because of the matching colors, those contrastive style elements don’t matter and go well together, too.
Moreover, because of the high wedges and with wearing this tiny handbag, this dress with a simple, normal shape can be turned into a rather elegant outfit.
As you can see, although this dress is a vintage one, it can be easily combined with new accessories and can be turned from a shapeless, long sack into a pretty piece of clothing that I totally love! :)

I love outfit photos so much! :)
Don’t forget to check out the blogs of Stefanie and Stef (who I both miss a lot!!!) for their second outfits of this series!! :)

Options for advertising and cooperations.

August 28, 2012

Hello! :)
You want to advertise on my blog? Here’s my first call for sponsors. You have your own blog or shop which you want to promote and show it to other people?

If you want to advertise on Luloveshandmade, you can send an e-mail to luloveshandmade(at)web(dot)de concerning the details and concerning monthly rates.

I now offer ad spots in the left sidebar with a width of 160 pixel. All ads have to thematically somehow match my blog’s content and I only accept sponsors whose products or concepts I like. What is more, all ads have to be visually appealing and match my blog’s style. :)

Last month, my blog had about 25.000 clicks and has an average of 800 clicks each day.
Most of my readers are women at an average age of 15 to 35, interested in fashion, DIY, handmade things, vintage, sewing, crafting and home decor.
My blog has more than 600 readers via google friend connect plus about 280 readers via bloglovin’. What is more, there are also lots of readers who do not follow my blog publicly, but nevertheless, read it on a regular basis. Furthermore, I have more than 340 followers on Pinterest and 140 fans on Facebook.

Concerning the ads, there are three sizes available:
Large: 160 x 240 pixel, only one ad per month, displayed directly below my profile information.
Medium: 160 x 160 pixel, displayed below the large ad, rotated in the middle of the month.
Small: 160 x 80 pixel, displayed below the medium ads, rotated mid month.

If you are interested in booking several months at once (for example to prepare for the holidays, etc), there’ll be a discount.

What is more, there’s always the option of including a giveaway and I
briefly introduce all shops at the beginning of each month. :)

If you have any questions, just feel free to contact me via e-mail! :)

Moreover, I also offer to host giveaways (seperately from those I offer
for my sponsors), but only giveaways which include items that I
personally like! I’d love you to contact me to talk about the details.

Another option are product reviews: I’d love to test and give feedback
on your products which somehow have to do with what my blog is about:
fashion, DIY, handmade things, sewing, crafting, vintage, lifestyle and home
decor.

Finally, you can also contact me concerning fashion posts: I do a lot of
outfit photos and if you think your items (accessories, clothes, …)
match my personal style and you would like me to wear your pieces of
clothing in my outfit posts, feel free to ask me. :) I’d love to promote
products and businesses that I personally like! :)

Thanks for reading! :)

My first big Craft Party.

August 27, 2012

Hello! :) I hope you were having a nice weekend! :)
Mine was super and now I’ve got tons of photos to share with you. :)
On Friday, I hosted a private Craft Party at home, it was so much fun! As I already wrote two days ago, the Craft Party takes places every year and it’s a day on which many
people come together (either in etsy labs, in community centers, in
parks, in private homes or somewhere else) everywhere on the world. They
craft, chat and create unique pieces. :)

I was so proud and excited that etsy asked me to host such a party
myself and they were really generous and sent me two amazing packages
full of craft supplies. One came from Berlin (the things on the left
side of the table), the other one from New York which was sponsored by
Michaels (the things on the right side of the table). The package from
Berlin was for parties with at least 5 participants and the one from NY
was originally for people with huge parties with at least 25 people, but
there were some packages left and one simply had to submit a short text
with giving some reasons why one should get one of those packages and I
was so happy when I received one of them. :) Thank you so much again!!!
As you can see, we were provided with everything that was needed. :)
Moreover,
I have lots of craft supplies, anyway, and I even went to the craft
store to buy some additional materials that I wanted to use for some
projects with my guests. :)

The day before the party, I made a little inspiration board full of
things I once made myself or with things I found on Pinterest to give my
guests some inspiration and to show them a few ideas which could be
made in just one evening.

My nice neighbours lend me another table so that we had enough space in my room. :)

I had seven guests so that we were a total of 9 people during the Craft Party. Apart from the food table I made, some of my guests brought food, too, so we had plenty to eat. :)
We started the party with making some jewellery and tiny accessories as a little warm up. ;)

Most of my guests are normally not that crafty, so they learned a lot and Anja and I gave gave some instructions and shared advice. :) It was so much fun to work on several, tiny projects. I made a little bracelet and worked on a Berlin tote.

Hanna and Mari made friendship bracelets, Anja crocheted a tiny flower and made a prety piece of home decor, using the great supplies we got from Michaels. You can find a tutorial for her sweet project on her blog! :)

Caro and Anjessa have never been sitting at a sewing machine before, but during the Craft Party I helped them sewing their own little phone pouches. So much fun!

Flo (the other one – don’t get confused, we have two Flo’s! :)) made a rose for his girlfriend (so cute!) out of fabric and and wire. :)

Look at all the pretty buttons etsy sent us! :) // Anja was still working on her project and I embellished my Berlin tote.

Tadaaaaaa, the girls finished their handmade phone pouches, the first time in their lives that they have sewed something with a sewing machine. :)

And of course we took plenty of photos and used the blue photo props I made for Flo’s birthday party last year and the moustache that Anja once made me. :)

At the end of the evening, my room was a total mess, but it was worth it. :) I had so much fun with my guests and they enjoyed it, too! :)
Did you ever host a craft party? :)
Happy Monday,
Lu

My colorful Craft Party food table

August 25, 2012

Hello! :) When a nice lady from etsy recently wrote me an e-mail and told me about the annual, global Craft Party and asked me if I was interest to throw one myself, I was over the moon! :) I immediately wrote back and agreed and was super excited! :)
The Craft Party takes places every year and it’s a day on which many people come together (either in etsy labs, in community centers, in parks, in private homes or somewhere else) everywhere on the world. They craft, chat and create unique pieces. :)
Etsy sent us lots of awesome supplies, I’m gonna show them in my second
post about this party where I’ll show you what we’ve been crafting and
how much fun we had. :)
In order to make everything extra pretty, I prepared the decor (with a color theme, of course :)) for our kitchen, prepared the food table, bought supplies and invited some lovely friends.
I made some salads for the party, bought two cakes, made ice tea and lemonade and my guests later brought lots of delicious things, too, so we had tons to eat! :)
So here are my photos for you, lots of colorful eye candy. :) I hope you like my decor and pretty food table as much as I do! :)
Happy weekend!
Lu

Shelf Restyle: A tiny Home Improvement Project.

August 23, 2012

Hi everyone! :) Today I wanna share an easy home improvement project.
I love my room and I love all the pretty things that are displayed, but what I don’t like is ugly, technical stuff like the DVD player. Thus, I decided to make a tiny curtain for my TV shelf. In case you want to make something similar for your own home, here’s a little tutorial.

You need:

– Fabric
– All-purpose glue or a hot-glue gun
– Rubber gloves to protect your fingers
– A piece of Velcro fastener

Spread glue onto the back of one side of the Velcro fastener, do this with a few pieces and attach them to your shelf or board, whereever you want the curtain to be. Next, let the glue dry and sew a tiny curtain for the measure of your shelf. It should be a little bit wider than the shelf itself so that you can gather some fabric in the middle and make it look prettier. Next, take the other sides of the Velcro fastener and sew them onto the back of the curtain, right there where you want to attach it to the shelf.
Such an easy project, you don’t need curtain rails or a rope and you can easily remove the curtain at any time and it perfectly hides items which aren’t so pretty to look at! :)
Have fun!
Lu
