Easy Peasy Etagere DIY

December 16, 2012

Hey dear readers, here’s a DIY for how to make an etagere with old plates and candlesticks.
Have fun! :)

What you need:
– Old plates
– Candlesticks
– Glue for ceramics

Put the glue onto the back of your plates (according to the instructions on the glue’s package), put it onto the spot where you later want the candlestick to be. Press it onto the back of the plate and let it dry according to the instructions given. Do this with all levels of your etagere and let it dry properly.

That’s it, sooo pretty! You can now use it for all kinds of stuff, for example for cupcakes on a sweet table, for storing jewellery or as I did, for arranging fresh vegetable.

Be careful when you clean it and then you’ll be able to enjoy its beauty for a long time. :)
Perfect for an easy and inexpensive last-minute xmas gift. :)

Only Today: Shopping without Shipping.

December 16, 2012

(Christmas background source here)

Hello and happy, super cozy Advent Sunday! :)
Because it’s nearly Christmas and because soon time will be over to get the last Christmas presents, I had an idea for a little shopping special today:

If you order something from my shop today (until midnight) for a value of at least 10€, shipping will be free (only if you live in Germany), I will adjust the shipping cost to 0€ when I confirm your order. :) You only have to leave the code “luloveshandmade blog” as comment when you order something so that I know that you are a blog reader. :)

In case you still need a special, handmade and colorful present for your loved ones, here’s your chance to have a look at my DaWanda shop today and buy something without having to pay for shipping! :)

All items which are payed until Wednesday (December 19) will be shipped on Thursday (December 20) and will hopefully arrive until Christmas! :)

I’m now off for some sewing, gingerbread house building and a cozy afternoon at home.
Happy Sunday! :)

Crafty Christmas Party.

December 13, 2012

Hello everyone! Two weeks ago I invited some of my favorite fellow bloggers for a cozy and crafty Christmas party, it was so much fun! :) Laura of Tagträumerin, Vivi of matzab and Katha of Kathastrophal came over the weekend and Anja and Sina & Kat of Die Stoffanstalt came for the party evening. We ate lots of food, worked on crafty projects and talked a lot. :)

As usual, I prepared lots of tasty food, including a pretty sweet table of which I have already shared some photos.

We were not only having sweets, but also some normal salads, mulled wine and soft drinks. (both photos taken by Vivi, edited by me)

Before the party I prepared some tiny, personalized surprise packages which I gave my guests after the party as little gift to take it home with them. :)

I also got a few super cute surprises, it already felt like Christmas! :*
It was so much fun sitting in my room and around my craft table, working on little Christmas decor ideas and exchanging thoughts and experiences cornerning our blogs and indie businesses. So encouraging!

Mogli wore his handmade doggie bow tie (Want one for your own dog? :) You can order a customized doggie bow tie here in my shop! :)) and Anja and I wore matching socks – best friends. :*

Laura, the queen at the sweing machine (she’s so talented and patient with all the sewing newbies! :)), has been working on a few own pretty projects, but she has still been helping all the others, so sweet!

We were listening to Christmas songs and laughed a lot and as usual, this evening went by way too fast! (all three photos above taken by Vivi, edited by me)

Such a lovely evening (and weekend!), too bad that I can’t see most of you more often! Thanks again for coming, it was great having you here! :*

Thanks for reading, I hope you liked this little insight into my Crafty Christmas party! :)

How to Sew a Gift Bag

December 11, 2012

Hi everybody! Here’s a quick and easy DIY for how to sew simple gift bags. I love those bags, because they are so colorful (when you use pretty fabric :)) and you can recycle them each year.

You need some fabric (depending on the size of your final bag you need enough fabric for front and back) and some cord.

Put front and back onto each other (or in case you only have one piece of fabric like I, fold it in the middle like I did) and put the cord inside and let the end look out of the bag so that you can sew over it. Use pins to stick both layers onto each other and sew. The sides and the bottom of your bag have to be closed this way, the top has to be left open.

Cut the button corners so that you can better turn the bag inside out. After doing this, fold over the top edge like on my photo and use pins to fix it.

Top stitch the top edge of your bag. That’s it! You can now fill it with pretty things and use the cord to close your bag. :)

Happy sewing!
Lu

(P.S.: In case you don’t want to sew such a bag yourself, you can buy some here in my shop. :))
