DIY with KAMSnaps: Faux Leather Business Card Holder

May 7, 2013

Hello, hello! :) Two weeks ago, I started a new mini-series called “5 things to do with KAMSnaps” featuring the awesome products of my new sponsor Snaply.
:)
My first tutorial of this series was about how to make an easy fabric bow bracelet. As I already told in the last post, Snaply sent me a package
with lots of awesome things from their shop that I’ve chosen in order to
show you what to make with their products.
This tutorial today is the second out of five blog posts telling you what to use KAMSnaps for. These are
colorful plastic snaps which you can use for many different projects and
they are so useful, I’ve got so many ideas for how to use them. So here’s my second idea, a DIY for how to make a faux leather business card holder for which you can use a pattern that I created. :) Of course, you can also print the pattern a bit bigger and use the case for other stuff, for example for notes or even a tablet, depending on the size.
Here we go!

What you need:
– KAMSnaps, a KAMSnap plier and a bradawl
– Faux leather
– Paper for the pattern
– Scissors to cut out the pattern
– A sewing machine (but you can also sew by hand, then you need needle and thread)

First of all, print out the pattern in any size you like (depending on what you want to use the case for).

Next, cut out the pattern and draw onto the back of the faux leather.

Cut out your pieces and mark the spots where the snaps need to be. Use the bradawl to makes holes and then use your plier to attach the snaps to the faux leather.

Use your sewing machine (or needle and thread to sew by hand) to sew both sides onto each other, right sides facing. That’s it, you’re done! So easy and so pretty! :)

If you want to, this also works with felt and of course in any size you need, only depending on what you want to put inside your envelope case. :) Moreover, you could also embellish your business card holder with leather paint, studs or some embroidery. :)
Have fun, I’d love to see your results!

My life in Instagram photos: I wanna go to the seaside.

May 5, 2013

Hello, my sweet readers! :) Today I’ve got an Instagram photo post for you, but a really special one:
Last weekend, I had 5 days off and it was soo relaxing. On Sunday, I spontaneously decided that it would be nice to go to the seaside, so I asked my love Flo and my best friend Anja and on Tuesday, the three of us and Mogli drove to the Baltic Sea. :)

It was sooo awesome being on the beach all day!! We have been walking in the sand, barefeet in the water, enjoyed the fresh air, the smell of fish and the wind, we sat in the sand, chatted, laughed and took photos.

Anja and I accidentally wore matching outfits with leather jackets, black, grey, white and pastel colors. I’m sooo glad that we found each other and always spend awesome days like this one! Life wouldn’t be as great as it is without her and we always feel so good when we are together and have so much fun! ;* Anja also wrote a blog post about this day on her own blog. :)

I simply love WarnemĂĽnde, the lighthouse, the beach, the sand and the fresh air! Anja has been searching for pretty stones all day and we all enjoyed walking with bare feet. :)

Felt like summer!

Love, love, love! One of the many things I love about Flo is that he always supports my plans and ideas and this time, he was as excited as I concerning the idea to spontaneously drive to the seaside, even if only for one day. :)

We were having dinner in a Greek restaurant at the beach, I’ve already been there last summer and I looove their food! They are also super dog-friendly which makes it easier for us. :) After dinner, we walked along the harbor, ate some soft ice and watched the seagulls.

Before we left, we enjoyed a last walk along the beach, played with Mogli and sat in the sand.
It was such a beautiful day with two of my very favorite and important people and it was so relaxing and so much fun! :))
Thanks for reading, Lu :)

The new DaWanda LoveMag is released and I’m featured in there!

May 5, 2013

Happy Sunday everyone! :) Today the new issue of DaWanda’s LoveMag is released, a magazine full of colorful summer products and pretty DIY ideas.
If you go to the LoveMag landing page, you can read the issue online and find a link to all DIYs which are found in there. Moreover, there’s the link to the DaWanda shop in which you can buy it. :)

I’m so happy that my colleague who is responsible for the LoveMag has asked me in late winter if I wanted to contribute a DIY project – of course I wanted! :) Moreover, she also asked me for ideas who else we could invite for a DIY in the mag and I’m happy that I was able to suggest some really inspiring people who then added great content to the mag! :)

My DIY in the LoveMag is a tutorial for a colorful piece of wall decor with an embroidery hoop and recycled fabric scraps. :) If you want to see the whole tutorial, click here.

There’s also a text about the Snuggery in which I spend most of my Thursdays due to my social media internship at DaWanda, because I’m currently responsible for the DIY workshops. :)

I hope you like the magazine as much as I do and I think Steffi of DaWanda has done a great job with this second issue! :)
